Our Programs

As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Armadale P.S. support student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.

Literacy

Literacy is a focus for the School Improvement Plan. We strive to deliver assessment-based literacy instruction that is differentiated to meet the strengths, common needs and interests of all students. The staff of Armadale participates in:

  • 4Cs Learning Collaborative
  • Action Research teams focusing on using technology to engage students for increased student achievement and assessing students’ oral language to support their overall literacy achievement.
  • Tribes Training
  • Assessment for Learning

Sports

We take great pride in our school teams at Armadale.  We offer a number of intramural and school team sports for many of our students. Winter Activity Day is offered in February for students in grades 4-8 as an opportunity to explore physical activity and remain physically fit during the winter months.

Breakfast Club & Healthy Snacks Program

A Breakfast Club and Healthy Snacks program is available to all students thanks to special funding from the Food for Learning program, parents and several individual donors.

Safe Schools & Character Education

Our school promotes a safe and supportive learning environment. This is done through the Board's Safe Schools Policy and Procedures, Character Education Initiatives as well as Special Education Programs.
